Current life situation in Cameroon
Cameroon exports timber, cocoa and coffee among others economic crops. The poor and marginalized keep surviving with their tiny earnings form agriculture and other minor businesses as hand to mouth with little or nothing left to save for the rainy days. Because of the poor road network farmers can produce but cannot take to the markets.
Current Food situation in Cameroon

Quite a good number of vegetable are also cultivated. Some of these are consumed while the excesses are sold in our local markets.
Farmers have no irrigation facilities to support cultivation within the dry season in area that this could be very necessary so food insufficiency is often the results. Farmers spend in the purchase of chemical pesticides and our new learning in Japan which needs to reach the farmers teaches non chemical/organic pesticides.
ANIMAL STATISTICS

For this reason pig production statistics are often very unstable, going up and down from farmer to farmer especially as we do not actually have professional pig farmer per say but rather those who do it as a hobby.
A pig takes 3months 3weeks 3 days to deliver and if the young ones are weaned after one month two weeks, we can count two deliveries in a year. Number of new born range between 8 - 12 averagely.
Some farmers decide to allow the young ones for fattening before selling for meat while others prefer to sell either all or a number of them to have money to raise the others. Each pig farmer owns from 2 to 10 pigs and the number for the above reasons is very unstable.
A few farmers are able to keep above this number if they are partially or progressively becoming professionals but feeding is often the major problem that retards progress and more over the annual seasonal disease attacks which some farmers are proposing an insurance scheme for pig farmers to face the risk especially as some farmers take bank loans to engage in the business.
