It should be noted that in 2012 the funders of this project were quite disappointed to hear that their attempt to support a pig cooperative two years back with a tool that will ease oil production and furnish the cooperative with palm kernel needed for their feed mill have failed to achieve the intended objective.
The cooperative management last Saturday 7th November 2015 were very happy to be part of the inaugural ceremony.
During the inauguration, the following points were noted;-
The replaced diesel engine driven oil press is very new and up to the task.
It can process 15 drums (1000liters) of nuts using 5 liters of diesel but you need much water to wash out the oil from the pressing chamber to the collecting chambers.
The pressing chamber has a volume of 1000 cubic centimeters and has the capacity of crushing nuts full in that chamber for 8 to maximum 10 minutes, producing between 25 to 35litres of palm oil depending on the variety of nuts processed.
The group members made a financial contribution that led to the success story.
Three oil collecting chambers is constructed below the existing building as a continuation of group member support and more of such chambers are still needed such that many people at a time can be served.
The group members through their delegate began to see the future need of a palm kernel cracker and another press for extracting oil from the kernel seed which is used for soap manufacturing with the by-product, palm kernel cake that would be used by the pig cooperative for the making of animal feed as it was in the original objective of the oil press project since lovely sister is a member group of Nowepifac.
